General Improvements

A quick update on Demi. I've noticed a few general improvements with her over the last couple of days that encourage me.

1) The other night at story time, she responded much more quickly than usual to "Where's the xxx?" questions. Before, she could answer the questions, but she was rather slow in responding. This time, she jumped right in there, even beating her sister to the punch.

2) Demi has always had low tone, which means that her limbs are typically "noodly." Whenever doing patty-cake, or some similar game, she posed no resistance at all. The other night, I was very surprised with the amount of resistance in her arms. She very much wanted to play the game and her arms actually had some substance to them!

3) Her imaginary play has expanded to include her sister. She has generally had good imaginary play, but she's usually in her own world. She would have an entire array of characters, but she played all the parts. Just yesterday and today, I noticed her participating significantly in imaginary play with her sister. Instead of just taking direction, which was typical just a month or so ago, she actively played her part. "Desiree hit me!" she'd cry. "Desiree, go to time out!" replied the teacher, played by sister Dana. And so on.

4) She's also stays alert for longer periods. She generally would not take a nap, so she'd go right to sleep as soon as we put her to bed at her normal bed time. She couldn't even stay awake for a story. Lately, she wants to participate in story time, even if it's later than her usual bed time. She's not lethargic and dying to sleep like before.

I believe these changes are positive results from Natural Cellular Defense, along with EFA's from fish oil for her neurological development. As I mentioned earlier in this blog, we tried the fish oil a while ago, but saw no noticeable difference after 8 months or so.
She still has major delays, but I'm very hopeful that her improvements will accelerate over time.
